Last year while perusing the shelves at Barkeeper in Los Angeles, I discovered Schott Zwiesel break-resistant crystal glassware. I don’t break glasses often but it does happen from time to time and so was intrigued by these. The price held me back from actually buying any at the time, but I recently received a pair of these cocktail glasses as a gift.

They’re fantastic. They’re much lighter than the stemmed cocktail glasses I was previously using, and have a thinner, more delicate look and feel. This would ordinarily make me nervous, as I tend toward the clumsy side when washing dishes (even when I haven’t had a drink) but the break-resistant promise of these is reassuring.
I haven’t tested this claim yet, although I’ve been tempted to. The Schott Zwiesel web site has some video demonstrations and I’ve read reviews which including things like banging wine glasses against table and countertop edges. With my luck I’d do it just a little too hard and end up actually breaking it, so I think I’ll just trust the claims for now.
