Root ‘n’ Ginger
- 2 ounces Root
- 4 ounces ginger beer
Pour Root into a tall ice-filled glass and top with ginger beer. Garnish with a slice of fresh ginger.
90°F in Portland today and it’s time for something cold (hey, I was promised rain and gloom when I moved here!). We made homemade lentil and cheddar veggie burgers for dinner and I thought this would be just the thing to compliment it while also cooling us off. It tastes like root beer but with a gingery kick.
The ceiling fan in our living room would also be a good way to keep cool but Basil is terrified of it. Probably some sort of primal fear of overhead raptors. Crazy cat.
This recipe came from the little booklet that came around the neck of the bottle of Root I just ordered. It’s actually the fourth thing we’ve made with it. The others were a few recipes from the Art in the Age web site, but I didn’t get any pictures of those and will have to make more in order to write up some real tasting notes. Not that I need any arm-twisting to make more drinks with this stuff. It’s great, and perfect for summertime.

Hi Ken,
Thanks for the tip on “root”. I had never heard of it. I hope to obtain some soon. The Art in the Age site is really cool, too. Very nice looking blog by the way.
Cheers!
Thanks Katie, I’m glad you found it helpful. Definitely pick up a bottle if you can.
My cat is also terrified of the overhead fan, and I share your theory that it is afraid of any “bird” that is large that it!
