Wandering around Sunset Junction in Silver Lake on a recent visit to Los Angeles, I stumbled across Barkeeper, a barware and accoutrement store on Sunset. As a big fan of bar porn, this is my kind of place.
Billing itself as a head shop for alcohol lovers, Barkeeper’s walls are lined with glassware and tools, with [...]
Our final stop on our recent trip to Los Angeles was Boardner’s in Hollywood. Boardner’s was one of my favorite bars when I lived in LA. I didn’t come here all that often, but it was usually the one I first thought of when going to bars in Hollywood.

I recently picked up this book,
The Cocktail: 200 Fabulous Drinks. I won't lie, I bought it for the pictures, which are gorgeous fashiony collage pieces by one of my illustrators, Australian Kat MacLeod. But it doesn't end there. The recipes included in this little volume certainly do live up to the book's title.

Last night was was the kick-off party for
International Flight Lounge, a new monthly event at
Forbidden Island in Alameda. International Flight Lounge is described as
"A hi-flying mix of the best uptempo '60s French pop, Euro beat and film soundtracks, exotica, British invasion, and much more".
