To follow up on the brandied cherries I made a couple months ago, I recently made cherry-infused vodka and bourbon.
I made these in one-pint mason jars, starting with a handful of cherries for each jar. After washing the cherries well, I sliced them in half and removed the pits. Put them in the jar [...]
I'll say straight off the bat that yes, I'm aware that calling this a "martini" will deeply offend some people. I wouldn't call it that either, but I didn't name it myself. Sorry about that.
I'm not normally a fan of apple vodka and am happy I've finally found a use for an old bottle of it I've had sitting around for a few years. This drink uses lots of like juice to balance the otherwise overpowering sweetness of the vodka.
I mentioned last week that we have an excess of lemons right now. Well, we've got quite a few grapefruits as well. Way more than we can eat, so I juiced them all so they don't go to waste, giving us close to 24 ounces of juice. It's grapefruit cocktail time!

Aqueduct
1 1/2 ounces vodka
1/2 ounce Triple Sec
1/2 ounce apricot brandy
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. I added an orange twist to complement the color of the drink and make it a little more visually appealing.
Recipe from The Craft of the Cocktail.
The Bloody Mary has long been a brunch staple, but vegetarians are usually left out in the cold. Not any more; try this vegan version and never miss out again.
SoHo Martini
2 ounces vodka
1/2 ounce Stoli Vanil
1/2 ounce orange curaçao
Dash of orange bitters
Orange peel for flaming
Shake all the ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with flamed orange peel.
Flaming orange peel takes a bit of practice and it’s not a skill I’ve mastered just yet. I know how to do it, [...]
I finally found a place to buy my favorite vodka for a reasonable price in San Francisco. I recently stumbled upon the only picture on Flickr tagged “youri dolgoruki”, by Trevor H. Right away I noticed he lives here in San Francisco and immediately asked where he found it. Previously I had only seen it [...]
