Getting out for a drink usually just means going to one of the neighborhood bars but we’ve recently visited two of the nicer bars in the bay area.
First, Kevin S. was in town from Portland a couple weeks ago and suggested we meet up at Bourbon & Branch, which we readily agreed to. Cocktails enjoyed over the course of the evening included an Old Fashioned, Winter-spiced Sazarac, Blood & Sand, and I don’t remember what else. All very good, as we’ve come to expect.
Our next stop came last weekend when we spent a nice sunny day wandering around North Oakland. We found ourselves in Rockridge around 5:00, which just happens to be the time the Conga Lounge opens. We haven’t been here since we moved to San Francisco in 2006 but I’m sure it’ll become a regular stop now that we’re back in Oakland and only about a mile away. One of the nice things about living in the East Bay is that you get an actual summertime and, unlike in SF, it starts before September, leaving plenty of time for all the great tiki bars in the area. At the Conga Lounge we had Mai Tais, Mojitos, and their signature drink, the Gilligan’s Island.
